About Model NATO
Model NATO is a unique educational project designed for Czech high school students, which simulates negotiations and the decision making process of the Alliance’s supreme body – the North Atlantic Council. The project builds on more than ten years-lasting tradition of the Prague Model UN and together with it and with the Model European Union they form the Prague Student Summit.

Our aims
The main goal of the project is to increase awareness of the general work of NATO among Czech students and to deepen their knowledge of current security issues. Special emphasis is put on their language skills, since the negotiations are held exclusively in English. Our long term goal is to contribute to creating a society which is not indifferent towards the security issues and threats of our present. Our aim is to build, on the high school level, a network of future leaders who would understand the importance of global issues.
We put special emphasis on
- including modern methods such as hands-on learning
- improving students’ language skills
- developing their public presentation skills
- encouraging critical thinking and making one’s own opinion
- explaining the importance of teamwork in proceeding towards a common end
- working with the most relevant experts
Our long-term goal is to contribute to creating a society that is not indifferent towards security issues and threats of our present.
Participants
Our participants are high school students from many different regions of the Czech Republic. They are selected in an application process, in which they have to prove their interest in global issues and a certain degree of language skills. Twenty-eight successful applicants will be given the opportunity to represent the Member States in the fourth year of Model NATO.
Cooperation
Our mission would be impossible to accomplish without the support of a number of individuals and institutions. See a full list of our partners in the right banner, or browse through the guests and speakers of previous four seasons.
