About Model EU

EUThe Model EU strives to simulate the Council of the European Union. Designed for Czech university students, it provides the participants with a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of foreign ministers of the EU 27.

Each student represents and defends national interests of their assigned state. At the Council meetings, the students-turned-diplomats engage both in formal sessions and informal caucusing.

Participants have a unique opportunity to experience what they have only read about in textbooks so far.

The 2011 Model European Union follows the previous four years of the successful program. Its participants had an opportunity to debate with a number of guests including former European Commissioner Pavel Telička, Members of European Parliament Jan Zahradil and Libor Rouček, former Foreign Minister Cyril Svoboda or Dutch ambassador H.E. Jan Lucas van Hoorn.
The programme consists of two workshops and a final conference of the Prague Student Summit.
The simulation at the conference covers contemporary issues previously discussed with the guest speakers during workshops.
